i have heard that gc 0w-30 or m1 5w-40 were good oils for the ls1. i am wondering what is the best oil for the ls1 and start up engine noise?

Im thinkin that noise will be there until either you get use to it or get rid of the ls1.

I changed from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple 10W-30, and within 1K miles my piston slap has all but gone away. I live in a very warm climate.

I switched from M1 5w30 to GC 0w30 and the valve train was noticeably quieter. Better oil pressure as well when it's hot with the GC being on the high end of 30w and the M1 on the low end for 30w.
