Battery question ?

My '02 ss has 64,000 miles and still has the original battery.
I am going to replace it.
Does anyone else think the 525 cca org. battery might be too weak ?
What have you used as a replacement ?
I am thinking about an 900 cca interstate or the like.

Surprised it's still alive. According to my helms the LS1 takes a 690 CCA battery - 525 is a V6 battery. Mine came with a 525 too, replaced it with a sears diehard gold 550 not knowing any better at the time, that one died too - bought an Optima red top 720 a couple years ago and so far so good.

hey i aslo have the red top is that what is it rated for? or are theer different rates?

720 is what's stamped on mine. Not saying their the best - but still kicking after two previous battery failures...and I'm in Florida w/only 25K on the car.

last nite my battary post melted off from the shitty a/c delco. 42,000 miles the screw that holds the post in melted in the battary from acid. just bought the die hard gold 700 cca. $100.00.

The AC delco is CRAP. The positive terminal is notorious for leaks. I'd go with optima red top or yellow top but there are definite cheaper alternatives out there that are just as good.

My AC seems to have been alright, but it makes you cringe when you hear stories like the one 02sscamaro had. I am thinking seriously about the Interstate MTP-75, 700 cca with 85 month war. I have an Interstate in my
'99 Silverado and like it.
