Backfires.. or which sound like it...
I have a 2000 Trans Am Ws6 with Adjustable Borla Exhaust... I normally have it open full. yet it still makes it with the half open. When i am full throttle it will backfire or pop a little. Yet whenever i have it at a high RPM and let off or even when its in drive and im slowing down it makes loud pop's which sound like backfires.. What are these? is this Bad? way to stop it? Thanks in advance.

Yeah racking off as I call it... Backfiring, in the exhuast manifolds (headers). You let off, so no more fuel. What happens is that the mixture leans out enough to where is fails to ignite consistently. This, in turn allows some un-burnt fuel to get into the exhaust pipes. Then when the engine does fire, these un-burnt gasses are ignited in the exhaust pipe, causing the backfires.
It's noticable with a super low restriction exhuast system, it can effect valves... Will it??, all depends... Stop it? Give it some backpressure.. I personally can't stand it... Sounds like total fricking shit to me, but each to his own..

hmm to fix?
I have QTP Long Tube headers with the QTP catted Y pipe also on the way. After i drop these in, is this going to help cure the problem? cause i really cant stand it most of the time.
