    I can see how that could happen. The shorted lead may have caused a misfire that allowed excessive unburned fuel into the pipes. The misfire should have been detectable as a separate symptom. You are right that any time we make changes; the changes affect other areas of operation. My answer was somewhat more general having to do with back-rapping and popping exhaust noises [beautiful noises IMHO].

    backfire

    no cats huh, that is part of ur back fire prob. happens on decel only right? and the part of ur problem is ur probaly running A little to rich , so when jam the pedal ur dumping fuel in fast then u let off fast the ECU and FI and TPS are still in WOT for a second and hence the backfire in ur exhaust.

    Well there is your answer. I would worry at all. The cats are literally a barrior to suppress the popping and flashes. It goes with the territory when you remove the cats.

    still gonna get her tuned, and have the plugs changed out for good maintenance. It's been over 14k miles since everything was done
