What is a good oil to use in the cleaning phase with Auto Rx? I put Valvoline Synpower in with my wife's car. Then I read the website a little more carefully and saw the part about not using synthetics in the cleaning phase. The website is not clear about what to run during the next 3,000M maintenance phase.

You can clean with a synthetic but need to run a conventional and a new filter for the rinse phase of 3000 miles.

    Thanks Sarge!
I am doing this treatment on all my cars. I have a several cases of synthetics in my garage. Now I will pick up a case of Havoline 10-30 for the cleaning and rinsing.
PS Thanks for the tip about the Valvoline Synpower oil treatment. I bought the last two bottles in the store today.

I was going to switch over to Synthetic Oil for my next change, PP 5w30, as my engine just ticked over the 100K mark (this is my first Oil change since i recently purchased the car).
Would it make more sense to just stick with conventional for the clean and rinse phase and then switch to synthetic after?
Thanks for your help and btw...this forum and Sarge has enlightened me greatly!

I would do it just as you described. Stick with the Dino...clean that motor and then go PP 5-30

BTW...Just ordered three bottle but couldn't locate a place to enter the coupon. I received a call from Frank I believe it was stating that there were no more coupons and we were getting the lowest price. For the record I got 3 bottle for ~$60.

Picked up some castrol and ordered a bottle of the Auto RX. I'm at about 54K miles so hopefully it'll be good preventative maintenance and keep the engine running well.
    Vote for Pedro.

Post up after the clean/rinse phase. Let us know how your engine/car respond to the cleaning. I always like as much feedback/data as possible. Good bad or indifferent.

    Pan Gasket?

I just changed my oil with the Auto RX. It has been in for 2000 miles. As the oil was being changed I noticed the Pan Gasket leaking. I just had this gasket changed in May. It was a huge pain. Luckily the Dealer is replacing it under warranty. There is no way this gasket should go out after 12,000M. Could the Auto RX have effected the gasket during the cleaning phase?
I have sent off a UOA sample for a Dyson Analysis.
Edit: I have been talking to the shop that built my motor. They think the Ligenfelter High Volume Oil Pump I had Installed could be pushing oil past my seals.

I put Auto Rx in my Camaro. I just hit 2,000 miles and did an oil and filter change. I cut the filter open, and I can honestly say that it worked. I found some miniscuel metal particals and carbon particles that would otherwise be circulated through the engine or remain in the pan. I never found any of this from previous filters that I cut open.

I say it works. The next thing is to see if I use any oil in 2,000 miles?

There are no solvents in AutoRX so I would be hard pressed to say it ate your gaskets. I see you found the issue....

8 bottles?! That will last awhile
AutoRX is the only cleaner I will use. Stuff is amazing. No solvents to hurt anything.

yeah two for my honda, my 02 just touched 40k so im good for awhile I THINK, anyways its mainly for a two ford trucks with the 7.3l diesel the problem is upon cold start the oil system is what pressurized the fuel injectors, so we keep getting clogs in the passages in the cylinder head, causing a misfire, so i think with some new oil and a thorough oil system cleaning it should help

i want to try this stuff, but i have royal purple in right now.. and i thought you werent supose to put non-synth back in the engine once you have synth in it. But the directions on the web page say to use non-synth even if you were running synth before.

Has anyone used this that was running synth and had any problems yet?
