    Question Anyone had this happen?

When I rev my engine high the exhaust smells. BAD! The only way I can describe it as, and I've had my friends smell it as well. It smells like rotten eggs. Is this a cat. converter problem or an internal engine problem or is it normal? I got a letter from GM a couple months ago, saying that my cats could have a defect in them and that the letter is not a recall but they could be a potential problem. It said if my car feels like it is/has lost power that the cats could be clogged or have something wrong with them and to then, bring it to a dealership and have them replaced. I have the slp loudmouth on it, so I know it can't be the muffler. Any feed back on this would be appreciated.

x2 either get them replaced for free or yank them the hell outta there for good (if you don't have smog laws etc.)

I got smog laws for sure. Looks like it's time to start saving for headers.

First of all, are you letting the car warm up before revving it, because this would cause it?

All cars with catalytic converters exhaust smell bad, even when warmed up.

You can take the car to the dealer and have them replaced for free. They are warrantied for 8 years by federal law.

don't quote me on this but the only areas that I'm aware of that were e-testing were Dayton, Cinci, and maybe cleveland. Even then you won't get hassled.

Not yet. I got a buddy in the state highway who works out in the springfield area, and he's told me that it's coming to Columbus. He don't know the exact time just that it is. No big deal though, just don't get pulled over.

I've been hearing that for 3-4 years. I actually heard they were getting rid of it in Cincy. I think the Formula's are still in the collectors book. My plan is to register mine as a collector car and be e-test exempt.

I'd heard the rumor that it was gonna happen but who knows with Ohio. There's always 2-3 e-test and front plate rumors going around at once. I've been hearing for several years that the troopers have been saying it's coming to Columbus but I've never read anything in the papers confirming that. I did read an article on e-testing a couple of years ago and the paper made it sound like just as big a pain in the ass for the state as it was for the citizens. I believe if they ever do start e-testing on a grand scale it'll be an obd2 check with no visual. I can tune around those for the most part.

I wish Ohio would get rid of the front plate law. Our cars look so good w/o it.
