Black- 2000 Firebird
Any thoughts
I have a 2000 Trans am WS6 automatic all stock. Every once in a while when beginning to accelaratefrom a dead stop the car jerks while changing from 1st to 2nd gear and sometimes is very smooth . Very sporadict happens at various accelaration rates.
Is this tires related ? Transmission ? Differential ? Or Other?
Maybe the Poly Transmission mount?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

no, is more like rough change in gears coming from the rear end of the car.

how could I tell if it is hitting the floor board. The sound appears to come from the rear end of the car sometimes is harder than others and sometimes is very smooth.

u-joint is located on the driveshaft. one towards the front and one towards the rear. here's a pic of the rear one.

I finally was able to look under the car today. I check the trans mount and looks solid. no cracks. Try to move it and it wouldnt budge. The same is true for the u joint and the drive shaft. Anything in particular I should be trying to pin point the problem?

The thing is that it only does it when it shifts from 1st gear to 2nd. It is a sudden jerk where the wheels sound like they are skipping along with a loud thud. Sometimes is very smooth like new.

Black- 2000 WS6 Trans Am
I had the same problem. I just replaced my tranmission mount today and the problem is fixed. autopartswarehouse.com. Make sure thats the right part. One requires modification and the other is a direct bolt on.
