You are exactly right, it's been done since the introduction of the Chevy V8 in 55. There are just alot of people out there that simply don't "get it". Meaning the car hobby in general.
Fortunately for us,,,most of them aren't here

its gonna be a street/strip car. i dont care how fast it launches or runs, as long as i can still beat the imports and have them wondering how i did it with a fox haha. as i have done more research i love the idea more and more, a few hic-ups though

    1. clutch and clutch pedal assembly, ford didnt run a hydrualic clutch, id have to fabricate it... lack of skills there

2 trans crossmember, will need fabbing as well, k memeber may be able to accept the different motor mounts, i wont know until i have eyes on the car (about 2 and a half more weeks)

ive been ballparking both ideas, a 347 stroker making aroun 475+ fwhp with the t5 set up prolly 7k

ls1/t56 with tsp H/C not that far off in hp numbers but the price catches up with me in custom headers/exhaust, misc fab work, custom driveshaft and other odds and ends, but still getting 25+mpg

so it all depends on what i see when i lay eyes on the car, whether the current k member will allow different motor mounts and what i can get as far as an ls1/2 lq9 setup

I float all over the place when it comes to brands. I have chevys and pontiacs (with real pontiac power even) as well as a ford in the stable still sporting it's ford powerplant. It's all good to me. No bias commments from this fella

    aje sbc/ls1 motor mounts
aje trans mount for the 4l60e
    dynatech swap headers
unisteer power to manual steering rack& pinion
shifter assembly from a 00' trans am
new gas tank (sealer, and all seals needed/required, filler tube)
99-03 corvette fuel filter w/ built in regulator
all russell fuel adapters that are needed
    255 lph in tank pump
    20' -6AN fuel line
    3' 5/15 fuel (return)

..sure im forgetting something that i bought...oh well

whats next on my purchase list

00-02 radiator assembly fans and harness
    ms3 cam kit from tsp
    ls6 ported oil pump
    double roller timing chain
slp lm1 cat back for the lx model (should sound sick as fuck)

Looks like fresh paint and ready for the drivetrain of your choice.
These are excellent platforms to build on. You'll have a fun car when it's finished.

i have a ls1 block with a spun bearing that needs rebuild if you need a starter
1999 LS1 out of my ws6. 89K everything checks out except for the spun bearing. comes with oil pan to heads. no intake. no accessories.
    pm me if youre interested.
i was also kind of considering a build like this myself if i couldnt sell the engine.
nice to see something build ford tough with the power of the LS platform

nice color! my sister had a 99 mustang that color.

    I like the shift light

Sweet project. As FBJ stated, most of us here love projects. And in the end, it only matters if you're happy with it.
