Angry Alternator MAJOR ISSUES! Please help at mywits end

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to Ls1.com although not new to Ls1's nor F-bodies. Here's the thing, I'm taking my car out of winter storage, at the end of last season, It had let me sit, the Alt. wasn't throwing a charge and It let me sit on the side of the road.
Well, today I took the battery and Alternator to Checkers and had them both scanned. The Battery was bad, which I knew but, the Alt. also came up after being scanned 5 times as bad. So, I replaced the battery and Alternator today, installed everything correctly and how it was when I took it out. NOTHING! The battery is throwing 12v, but I am getting absolutely nothing from the Alternator. No charge what-so-ever.
I am at my Wits end here. I worked all day, after working a 12 hour grave yard shift to get this car running, and I am at a loss. does anyone have a clue what could be the deal?
Additional Information: I have a Stereo System that has a different than stock battery terminal on the +. Other than that, nothing has changed as far as the Power Supply goes.
Please help in any way possible, or if anyone has had the same issues

    Thank you!
    Jordan

Remans from parts stores are hit and miss. Even at Napa, whom isn't a low cost seller like CSK or Autzone.

To the point I wonder why no one bothers to have them tested before they leave the store.

I wonder if the guage is bad? That would prevent charging..

I just went through this same thing about a month ago.
I replaced the Alt and Bat, then on my way to work, my lights went out. After being towed home, I pulled the Alt back out and it tested bad (btw...this one was new, not a reman).
You can also check the small wire on the harness that clips to the back of the Alt. If you stretched that wire at all when taking out the Alt, it will break...trust me. I ended up extending that wire on mine.

I would check the red wire and the connector then. I pulled on mine just a little while trying to get in a position to disconnect the connector, thus pulling the wire out of the connector. I ended up taking the connector apart and soldering in a new, longer wire.
