    99 Trans Am

Talking To all that may have this stering problem now or later.

About a year ago I posted about a popping sound coming from my 99 trans am when I turned the steering wheel left or right. I never got a answer, so I changed the inner and outer tire rod ends upper and lower ball joints and checked the frame bushing.but they were not the problem, I took the car today to a shop where I have a guy that helps me keep my cars running, we put it up on the lift and I moved the steering wheel with the engine running and hopefully found the problem. It seemed to be the steering rack, the bolts that holds the rack had built up rust under and around the bolts, the bolts must have worked their way loose at sometime and with me only driving it a few times a year it sat an built up rust.I posted this just in case someone else have or will have this problem with their steering some time down the road so that you will have some where to start looking before you spend money that will end up not helping the problem.

Not sure I have heard of this issue... interesting. Glad you were able to get it figured out and fixed.

This is why I like being a member here on LS1. Members share their problems or their solutions with other members.

Unfortunatly, at this time we don't get the opions or answers from other members as quick as we would like but the answer or solution will come.
