    AIR & EGR Removal

I'm getting ready to put my lt's in and ORY.... I don't have the provisions for EGR and AIR so I am going to end up removing the systems. What all am I going to have to remove? I know I can do it, but I'm looking for advice from people who have already done it. Has anyone experienced any problems removing either or both of these systems? If you're wondering about the setup I'm going with, if it'll make a difference:

    M6
    Edelbrock LT's
    Edelbrock 3.5-3" ORY
    PRC 5.3 Stage 2.5 Heads
    TSP MS3 Cam w/ 112 LSA
by the end of the summer 150-200 Shot of Nitrous...

Pretty straight forward. The air pump is behind the drivers side headlight. On my formula I was able to drop the access door on that side and get it from underneath pretty easy. I'm not sure if you'll have a vacuum line at the block to plug or not. I forget right off hand if some years have to block that or not. I didn't have to on my 98. If you're not swapping to an ls6 intake you'll have to block off the EGR hole in the top of the ls1 intake which I did with an expandable freeze out plug from a parts store. I *think* the size is 1 3/8" but I'd have to double check that. I've posted it here before so just do a search for freeze out plug and you should find it if I don't post back up before you find out the size. Pretty sure it's 1 3/8" though. There's an EGR timing adder that you should get zero'd out when you have the car tuned and I'm assuming you're getting a tune for the codes you'll throw right?

Its really easy. Like Orion said, the pump is right there by the drivers side wheel. The EGR is even easier. You will love the way that removing these things cleans up your engine bay.

Yeah.... that's what I WAS worried about before... but oh well... I'll figure it out...

I know a few friends that have done the EGR and AIR removal but I've never done it... thanks for the link 35th, thanks Orion, and yes I'm getting it tuned after, I might just wait and put the headers in when I put the heads and cam in since I'll be doing that within the next month or so.

I was also wondering for this setup should I upgrade to 42lb injectors or can I wait a little bit before I do?

Is anyone using these air pumps to draw vacuum on the crank case?

cool that will be easier than that damn EGR. GM had to change the design for 2000 and make the damn thing so hard to get at I had to use a 12" and 3" extension with a swival.

I just took out the whole black piece you are talking about. But there is one small vacum hose on top of it that stays and you have to plug it. I just threaded in a screw and then used black electrical tape around it to make sure the screw wouldnt fall out.
