Air Check Valve help
Hey guys, 01 ws6 here. It appears my car has a bad pass. air check valve, code 1416. I know where I can get the part, and I know where it is on the car, but how do you replace it? is it just an easy switch out or does the battery need to be disconnected? Whats the instructions on replacing the valve?

No need to disconnect the battery. Just undo the clamp, slide the hose off the back side, then use two wrenches to remove it from the metal air pipe - one to hold the pipe steady and the other to unscrew it.

The hose and clamp attach to the valve, just to the left of the red circle in the pic in this post: www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96037

I just changed mine on both sides. Don't wasted time trying to take off the valve because whoever or whatever installed it at the factory rammed it on super tight. Do it like this:
1. Loosen and remove the plastic hose clamp and remove the hose and then remove the two small bolts that hold the air pipe to the manifold. Then the pipe and valve will come right off.
2. Put the pipe in a vise and loosen the valve with a wrench.
3. Clean off the threads on the pipe then put the new valve on the pipe. I tightened and loosened it a couple of times to make it easier to come off in the future.
4. Bolt the pipe back onto the manifold.
5. Slip on the hose and tighten the plastic hose clamp.

Before I ditched the secondary air system on our car, I had to swap out the valves. I tried to removed the valves and they wouldn't budge. Ended up unbolting the standpipes from the exhaust manifolds and getting out the fire wrench to break those suckers free. If you bugger yours up removing the valves, I have my standpipes and replacement valves with only about 1,500 miles on them.

Yep, I saw it was an old post but thought it might be good information for someone.
