Question Air bubbles in oil..how bad is this?

I go to EZ Lube (10 min oli place). They usually are great, but two days ago they went to add a quart since I was low (typical).

They use a drum of oil now with something similar to a gas nozzle we all use at gas stations to pump the oil in my car.

Apparently the drum was low and it caused air bubbles/pockets in the oil. My bud who works at the place said that it will cause the oil to bubble up if you get air pockets inside of it.

Should I get my oil changed immed now?
Is this really bad for the motor?

Reason I am being so careful is because I am about to reinstall my NX 150 wet, and I do not want to blow the motor from some jack @ss at the jiffy lube.

Thank you in advance for helping a fellow LS1er.

Hey, for $20, I would rather have it done in 15 minutes. Prob realistically takes you 45 minutes to complete on your own. They usually treat my car with royalty since it is an LS1 on nitrous, but my regular crew was not in.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure it would not hurt my motor.

Have you ever noticed when your drum is close to empty that the oil coming out looks more white? It did not really look red-brown like normal. Looked sort of white until they fixed it and got it to flow correctly in a bucket.

The bubbles will go away. Just like air in any liquid. It won't hurt anything.

You oil sump is vented ( ala PCV) so air comes in and goes out. The bubbles will dissipate no problem. Now if you have foam on your dipstick that means it is too full and your crank is slapping the oil....and that is not good as foam doesn't lubricate. But bubbles....nope....they get expelled via the vented crank.
And I dont care how you chnage your oil....I prefer topless cheerleaders yelling and jumping up and down as I do mine in the garage on ramps....but hey the key is change your oil....however that may be.....

i understand, but just case in point-that drum they used is not always covered, so it is exposed to all kinds of dirt and moisture to make it in there with the oil they just put in your car. just some food for thought. like Sarge said, at least you change it

Sarge, you got a manual? I have a hell of a time getting my m6 up the ramps. Usually takes me three or four tries. Scared to death one of these times I am going to over shoot it and have the ramps holding the car up via the body.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I will make sure I do not have foam on the dipstick.

I appreciate the knowledge. Maybe I will start changing my own oil. They use to use indiv quarts, but now they use these barrels...maybe I can see if I can demand the quarts instead, otherwise start doing it myself.

Thinking of switching from Mobil One to Royal Purple anyway.

    Thanks again,

    Rich

Royal Purple sucks. Stay with Mobil1 or go with Pennzoil Platinum.

I don't have the space or the time to do it myself, so I take it somewhere too. I always bring my own oil though.

    Hey Z28er,
Your bud is right about Royal Purple, sorry Sarge. Thier plant and thier specs on quality are absolutely amazing. Probably the best in the world, I was very impressed and I've been a mechanic now for 25 years. I will agree with Sarge though on Mobil 1. I've been using it for close to 20 years especially after it has proven itself in the Turbo cars I use to race. For most people, Mobil 1 syn. has you covered. And yes, I still use Mobil 1 syn.
