advice on passing emissions on a swap

I have had a '98 LS1 from a wrecked WS6 T/A for a while now. One guy was about to put it in a '67 camaro but realized that it would require more cutting than he wanted to do. We bought the complete kit. It included the engine, a t-56, new clutch, painless harness, computer reprogrammed without VATS and 2nd set of 02 sensors, and covnersion headers.

My intention was to put it in a '70 firebird I had found, but that deal may have fallen through.

I have now found a very clean '95 V-6 / 5spd Firebird. Engine is locked up and the guy wants $500 for it.

what happens if I put the LS1 in this car? what will the state computer do when the vin is put in but the ECM shows a V8? Has anyone done this and passed an emissions test?

we get more than a sniffer here.. we get the dyno thing.. but my main concern is not that the engine will be a big polluter, but the vin being for a v-6 and the ecm a v-8.

In dallas at least, the car is hooked up to a state controlled emissions computer that reads the OBD2 stuff directly. I'm just not sure of how much it checks. I don't know if it will care if the vin does not match the engine or if it just cares what the stuff is comming out of the pipe and that it has no error codes.
