Accelerating problem and "popping noise"

Hey guys, I have been having a problem with my 94 Z28. This mostly happends when the engine is cold, but whenever I accelerate I hear a "popping" noise coming from the engine only when i'm accelerating. Also when I try to accelerate the engine is a little hesitant like it doesn't want to go. I can have it to the floor and it doesn't want to go, but after 3 or 4 seconds it finally kicks in. I replaced the air duct with a new one, because my old one had a tear in it, but that didn't fix the problem. The engine is mostly stock except for K&N and cold air. If anybody would have an idea of what could be causing any of these problems, It would sure help me out.

i would start with the simple things first. complete tune up and oil change, then move onto gas. are you putting 90 octane or higher in your car. you may just have some bad gas in your car.

I hear all the symptoms of running rich. If that's the case, the popping is just unburned fuel that's igniting in the exhaust. A rich condition will also cause your low RPM stumble that you seem to be describing. Likely, it's a fuel pressure regulator issue, but it could also be a leaky injector.

If your check engine light is not illuminated, it may be burned out...make sure it lights up for a few seconds when you start the car.
