AC Belt Delete

This is a discussion on AC Belt Delete within the General Help forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; I'm not sure which settings engage the compressor when the defrost is on. What Scott posted makes sense though....

I'm giving serious thought to removing the A/C completely, I've not used it at all in the 2 years since I got the car. For the most part A/C is something I don't give much, if any, thought to.

Is it a job I could do myself, are there any guides on A/C removal on this website?

Let me clarify this a little more.

AC compressor engages when the temperature setting is in the cold zone of the gauge while the climate setting is on any zone position. With the selector in the Max or AC position the air is pulled from the cabin while if you have it in Defrost or the other 2 positions it drawls fresh air from the outside of the cabin.

Removal isn't that hard. Only one major thing; you are suppose to capture the freon (not suppose to leak it into the air) and that means paying a shop to do so.

I'm not sure who would sell it or make it but I imagine a block off plate would also be necessary to prevent engine fumes coming in through the firewall.

You would remove the condenser, compressor, ac belt, high and low pressure lines, dryer and install a block off plate or cap for the high low lines you removed.
