    Abs causing soft brake petal???

    ive got a 1994 25th anni. trans am with abs brakes. the brakes are really soft!! i talked to a "wise" co-worker (i work in a vehicle maintanance shop in the air force) and he said it could be the abs moduel. fluid in the lines are good no air any thoughts?? what else could it be?? thanks

    on your abs system there are solenoids that are what pulse your abs, if you havent used abs in a long time those solenoids drain brake fluid and the pedal can be low and soft. get on grass or gravel and do a few abs stops and reload those solenoids with fluid. have you changed your fluid lately?

    Probablly not. Unless there is trapped air in the ABS valve assembly. Other then that it could be a back master cylinder.

    what kinda shape are your rear pads in? I've seen worn rear pads that will let the pedal travel increase.

    your stock rubber lines can be worn and you should do a complete fluid change also change your pads. maybe you should just try to bleed them first???

    Great thought! I've also seen this on front pads.

    fluid is good pads are in good shape (75%) brake lines are in great shape. the abs hasnt been used in probibly ever so im going to "stimulate" the abs.
