    99 Z-28 Electrical Mystery

Hey gang, Im having a spot of trouble with my 99 Z. I can be going down the freeway at 70, and all of the sudden, the dash will go nuts, guages, flop to the redlines, then flop back to zero. Then, EVERY single idiot light flashes on and off. Meanwhile, I can feel the car surging because I assume the fuel injection is turning on and off, the radio cuts on and off. Its very steady, like a turn signal. But the most recent time this happened, I turned the key off, tried to restart and the whole car went dark. No lights, no dings, no buzzers. I was able to coast over to an exit, and halfway down the ramp, I turned the key again, and "poof" it started right back up and ran like nothing ever happened.
Now, Im sure its a related problem, but now and then I will get in and start it, and the trip odometer will be reset. Im wondering what the troulbe could be. Bad ground? Something shorting out the computer? Anyone else have any trouble like this? Im afraid to drive it now. Afriad I will get stranded somewhere. HELP!

I had the same problem, check your ground wires, even the battery.

Fixed it! The positive battery cable was totally corroded with junk. Not to mention the battery was seeping a bit, so I kissed it goodbye and put in an Optima, cleaned the whole area with baking soda (neutralizes battery acid), wire brushed the terminals and cables, and the thing runs like a million bucks. Thanks for your suggestions, gentlemen.
