    99 t/a weird problem.

Took the t/a for a scenic drive through Wisconsin today, after we got home I went and opened the garage, then I went to start her back up to pull it in the garage, but the "security" light on the dash came on and it would'nt start! So I clicked the "lock" button with the remote and then hit "unlock" on the remote and then the "security" light went away. This has happaned a few times before but is getting worse, I never had to hit the remote buttons before to make it work. CarCraft is coming here in July and I dont need this messing it up for me, any ideas whats going on here?! Thanks - Jason

Either a remote issue or a BCM issue is my guess.

Sounds like it might be a VATS issue (Vehicle Anti-Theft system). If the system can't read the resistance in the key chip, it will not allow the car to start.

Any idea how expesive an electical issue like that costs to fix? I really dont want some shop screwin me over. The car has been doin this for the last couple weeks, but all I had to do was turn the key a few times, but today i had to use the remote a bunch of time to get it to start....ugh right before the damn carshow, I really did'nt need this!

Oh and I did'nt think about the key chip, interesting. That would make the most sense.

sounds like VATS. i used canned air to blow dirt and crap out of where the key goes in. happens to me less now, but still a couple times each year. it just takes 3 minutes for security light to go off. so i wait it out and listen to a song on the radio. there is a way to bypass the VATS, search for those threads if youre interested
