99' SS with power steering cooler (issue)

My factory in coolant line p/s cooler return line (gm# 26068527) cut itself open on my serpentine belt. The dealer said 110$ for the hose. I mean id rather just get a new top rad hose, and buy a standard return line off the net for 25$ total. what do u guys think?? i know these coolers leak, so i might as well save myself the issue.

Also, does anyone know a website that sells the seat belt guides? my dealer can buy them either.

    Thanks a million!

The cooler retains the life of your power steering pump. Taking it out of the equation after years of it being relied on, I wouldn't be surprised to see your power steering pump shit on you. I'd definitely keep it the way it is.

Thats not a bad idea. You should be able to get away with it since alot of these cars came without the cooler.

i mean its just the matter of replacing a hose. id rather keep it factory, but the line is a 110$ and its about 20" long. thats a little high, plus the dealer cant get it. i might just splice a little.

Have you tried any local parts stores?? Napa, Advance, O'Reilly, Autozone??

Might have some luck with one of those.

none of them even have a listing for that part...they dont even have listing for the return line that just goes right back to the p/s pump/resivoir.

I had the same exact thing happen to mine. You can get the top radiator hose for one without the PS cooler and cut it down. Take the second half of the hose off the car with you and match it up with another hose and cut it down. You can replace all three hoses for less than $30.

If you want the OEM hose, get from our GM parts sponsor. If you take the hose to a parts house they can make one up for you for about half the price.
