The exact same thing has been happening with my 2000 WS6 over the last 3 weeks. Then over the last week it had progressively been getting even worse.
Today I was adding a court of oil and thought I heard an air leak. The more I listened the more significant it sounded. It was coming from where the EGR valve"s tube connects to the top of the intake manifold right after the TB.
I disconnected the tube by just removing the one bolt on the right and there was an O Ring that had somehow partially slipped down on its own.
That was the culprit. I just repositioned it correctly and bolted it back on. I instantly had all my under 1500 rpm low end torque and HP back.
I think I'm going to just replace the O ring. It could be a little worn or stretched from the years.
