98 LS1 Rebuild looking for suggestions to get more power
Hello Everyone,
I am doing a 98 LS-1 full engine rebuild I spun a connecting rod bearing, I am using a standard crankshaft and I am looking on some good advice on some upgrades to gain more horsepower. I understand computer flash will be one of my issues and a new stall converter. I just had the transmission rebuilt with corvette servos, upgraded gears, and a shift kit. What should I do please help?

There is plenty to do for more power. Please be a little more specific when asking a question like this. I mean you could get a tsp 383 stroker kit for plenty of power lol. But are you talking heads, cam, intake, headers, lid, catback? If you are using a stock ls1 intake i would go ahead and move to a ls6 for a good jump in hp. a set of ls6 heads would be a great improvement as well. Once again you will get more info and advice if you include your goals? your budget?

What I am after.
I am changing the crank but going stock.
Oil Pump
Water Pump
Lifters
Lifter Trays
Timing Chain
Rering Pistons
I am really looking for advice on maybe a cam, or some other bolt on to increase power. I was going to do an LS6 intake but I am really an amateur and this is my first engine rebuild and upgrade.
Also the Transmission is new.
I am Looking at High Flow Cats and mufflers, and Headers.
I already have about 2500 invested, and was looking for suggestions on what you would do.
Thanks
Ed

Well ed the first thing i would invest in is a set of LT Headers, Highflow cats and whatever catback you like. Then the very next thing would be the ls6 intake (very easy to change with some good hp gains) And when it comes cams with an ls1 the sky is the limit. I have had great results from the lg g5x3 for a great hp gain and great daily driver. And while your replacing parts you can go ahead and throw a set of dual springs in tho support you cam swap..

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A w/ mods, 00 FBVert
Oil Pump - Ls6 High flow (Ported would be best)
Timing Chain - LS2
The rest depends on what your plans for the car are. No need to put in forged parts if you're not doing FI. That money can go to other needed areas.
