    98 chevy

    need help i have a bad shake when the trucks runs and i think its the timing chain? does that sound right and i need to try to find a used 454 for my truck

    no it actually a Vortec 5.7
    the horsepower that should be there isnt i have a feeling it timing chain and Distributor
    cause the timing is bouncin all over the place when its idling. my pickup has 252,000 miles on it so i dont think it will ever run perfect but i want the shake to stop any ideas or thoughts would be nice

    Dude with that many miles isn't it TIME to just get an upgrade??? At that mileage after you find out your current problem, something else will act up.....It's kinda like old age bro..........

    The timing mark will bounce around if the timing chain is shot.. I'd go with replacing it.. However you could also be seeing signs of compression loss and excessive ring/cylinder wall wear among other things.. I'll bet you're even begining to hear rod rap after it sits over night till the oil psi. comes up..

    Well im low on money right now and I just need 2 get it runnin right 4 awhile till I can get the money 2 put in a new engine
    So I just need 2 get it goin good
    So do yall think its just the timing chain?

    Oooh, I'd have to say it's prolly a lot of things but a timing chain should get you going as it were..

    thats kinda wat i was thinkin i think its the timing chain and hopfully that will stop all the shakin at least most of it
