98 Camaro v6 Help! Engine problem!!!
Hi
My 98 camaro v6 just just died today.
I believe it was knocking noise when i was going to the disneyland.
Once i was coming back home from disneyland, the knocking noise got worse.
When i finally got home, and checking my car, after accelerating little bit in Park to hear where the knocking noise is coming from, the car shut off.
After taht i couldn't turn the car back on.
Another thing is, when i started the car at disneyland, after it turned on, it had bad knocking sound for good 2 seconds.
My father told that it seems like one of my bearing.
Any ideas?

It sure can. Once a rod bearing goes, many things can happen. Metal fragments are almost immediately spread thoughout the engine. Clogging oil ports, which robs almost every other part of oil. After awhile (which as you've found out is'nt very long) of continued opperation in a "spun bearing" condition, such things can happen: Piston repeatedly strikes the cylinder head, valves can be bent or broken, crack shaft is completely destoyed, rod may bend or break, and every single bearing and race becomes damaged. Motors junk.......

Might be easier to just get a junk yard engine and run it till you can tear down yours and decide weather you want to rebuild it, swap in an LS1, sell it and get something else, or run the junkyard engine till it dies and get another.

An ls1 an tranny can be had for around 1500 to 2k if u shop and piece together. However it may be easier to buy a 5.3 or 6.0 truck motor and get ls1 accessories and for it as these motors can be had for ~500. However being a 98 car you must get a 98 engine or harness 99-02 are different.
