ls1 spun a bearing. rather than spend a fortune on a limited potential engine, i bought a cheap 5.3 to run with...will be close to same power as ls1 after a tune...plus they are very capable engines as far as mods. boosted...cammed...whatever...it will remain stock for a while though. i only had the car 6 months before it spun the bearing. been down almost a year. i wanna enjoy the car right now rather than worry about spending a fortune on performance parts.

Looks good, I'm doing the same thing shortly to my Z28 for the same reason. Got a 5.3 cheap and decided to run with it rather than wait on my "dream build" which will take alot longer and alot more money. Just waiting on a few more parts and I'll be starting on mine as well.

Looking good -- nice to see it all cleaned up and ready to install. How long has the car been down now?

I knew it had been a while, but didn't think it was quite that long. Hope all goes well with the install.

    98 T/A w/a little mods...

Mike I know the feeling about spun bearings. My wife Jeep did this last month, I'm sorta lucky looks like I can drop the crank from the bottom and replace 2 of the piston rods along with the bearings plus gaskets and seals. As long as I don't have to pull the motor or go from the top I'll be happy. Fingers crossed....

5.3's are stout motors -- our '07 Suburban tips the scales at around 6,200 lbs. and pulls an additional 7,000 lbs. worth of car, trailer and track supplies back and forth to the track all summer long.
