^^^ True, you never want more weight over the front end unless you are running a corvair or vw with the engine in the back.

that's a bad idea. if you're going from a v6, go with some sort of small block v8. if you have an ls1, why go with a heavy pig like the 454? that would be one of the last options in my book. it'll handle terrible. an aluminum v8 adds enough weight to the front. find the weight of a 454 fully dressed with exhaust and accessories and compare it to your v6 or alum v8, you'll change your mind.

plus you would have to beef up the front suspension. You can get a 454 to 700bhp easy, like they said earlier they are restrictive as hell. If you where to do it, it would be for aesthetic purposes only, because you can spend the same amount of money almost and get the power out of an ls series, ls2?
You are adding more weight to the car, at that point your handling is not as great, so you mine as well just keep it as a strip car and not try to hog in some curves.

Parts in the big block world are a little bit more exspensive than the small block side. Not until the pass couple of years has their been major advancement in the big block field because the focus was on small blocks.
Plus i think the 454 vortech out of the truck is a two bolt main, and that is...well....................ewwwwww.
Just go 402 or 408.................problem solved.

The 454 would be great if you built up good, but really only for strip. We put a big block in my brothers 3rd gen and it is a really fun car to drive, but that was before the LS series motors came around. You could build that thing to take some crazy boost if you want to do that though.

I think it would be pretty cool to do.

it would be the only f-body that is 4x4.

I've seen a few around here several years back, but they were all 2nd gens and I even saw a C4 4x4. They were all on 44" tires. I wish I had some pics of them. They put just about any thing on a 4x4 chasis with huge tires up north here!
