2002 Camaro ss a4 Help! redlines a gear then changes a gear from a roll please read!

When i put the petal to the floor when i driving about 40mph to 85 mph it automatically goes to red line and sets there for a min then finally shifts in to a pulling gear if i was racing just that wait alone would make me lose why is it doing that? it goes and sits in the red area for a sec or two revs real high then shifts to pull but it takes a min to get for red to actually pull i think its shifting to low when i mash to the floor for a roll, can u help?

    1) Our tachs are not all that accurate
    2) Check your tranny fluid as per owners manual instructions
    3) Could be clutches going out

ok, but even if tachs arent accurate it still shouldnt hold it there for a while right? it seems like its hitting the rev limiter when its doing that and after it cant go no higher it changes gear but while its doing that im not gaining any speed im just sitting at the one speed till it changes and i only have 49,000 miles on it only mods are k &n filter and its straight piped from cats

not really..depends on the stall...but that doesnt matter. um on the 4l60e they beef up the clutches, valve body and the drum. call a 4l60e place and see..or look it up on google.

Better input drum assembly, Kevlar band, Alto red clutches, Colene steels, Beast sunshell, Billet "super Servo's" and shift kit and you'll be good for a while.

sounds to me like you need a rebuild as well, thats what mine was doing before it got toasted completely. Make sure you take it to a REPUTABLE trans builder. The first time I had my trans rebuilt the guy did a horrible job and it went out after 9,000 miles completely but I had other probelsm with it before that. Also compare prices of what they want to rebuild yours with prices on a new performabuilt trans. I have found most places want ovre 2000$ to beef them up and rebuild whereas you can get a great warrentee on a performabuilt for 1600$ for a stage two transmission.
