Black- 2001 WS6 Trans Am
Mine popped and and I felt something hitting under the center console. Turned out it was a broken transmission mount. When I shifted hard at High rpms or mids it would do that. Check it out.

Does the shifter jump around when you hear the popping noise??
Could be a broken transmission mount. If the mount is completely broken, the shifter will tend to jump up and down when you shift.

No nothing moves when i hear the popping noise it sounds like its coming out of the exhaust to me but the popping i only hear when i take off first thing in the morning or its been resting for a couple of hours after it warms up i dont hear anything after that.

sounds like you're describing the exhaust popping which is normal with free flowing exhaust. Do you have an aftermarket catback?

i believe its jst a normal thing with cars like ours, because mines does the same thing until its warmed up. i think it has sumthing to do with unburned gas fumes that are hot hitting the oxygen mollicules in the air and combusting... i could be wrong though
