    2 kill cats or not

Hey all, I'm having the Bassani TD's installed on my car but I really want to leave the cats off of the car. I'm tired of buying expensive cats when they only go bad on me (on my 2nd replacement). Anything goes here in Florida and I rarely drive my car on the street anyway...it's more for fun at the track. The installer says I will never get the Fuel/air mixture right if I leave the cats off and the car will loose power. Is there any truth to this? What do you guys think. I don't care about the extra noise without the cats...the more the better. Thanks all.

You might want to get a custom tune to compensate for the freer flowing exhaust. But other than that the cats being removed will not affect the engine, as long as you run O2 simulators for the rear ones. Track only cars don't run enough to really affect the environment that much. Go for it.

Aren't most guys running ORY's? I'm getting rid of mine because in Jersey they didn't even do a smog test when I got it checked.

Im running an ory as are most unless you have too deal with state inspeciton issues. The car will run a lil rich but not enough too hurt anything. Like said above you will need rear 02 sims too keep your check engine light off. All the cats do is cut down on emissions and its a fact if you run straight pipes you will loose some low end power but will pick up top end so its your call.
    I would ditch them.

ahahaha...i'd take it somewhere else if I were you, is there a speed shop near you?

Your fuel/air is metered by a combo of sensors and the FRONT o2's is one of them which are before the cats. You might run a little rich from the TD setup but forcing a fuel trim relearn should clear a lot of it up. Since you can afford the bassani TD setup you should be able to get a dyno tune also

Thanks all. I appreciate all of the help. I finally convinced him that my money was green enough for him to spend ...leaving the cats off.
