    2 gauges not working

My temp guage doesn't work, as the car heats up, it doesn't go past like 110 degrees. I replaced the sensor, it didn't do anything. I got it to go up to like 220 one time when I was flushing the coolant and turned the heat all the way up, but I couldn't get it to do it again, and can't get it to change anymore.

Also, my oil pressure guage is all the way up past 80, doesn't change at all..

Anybody have any ideas? It's not effecting anything as far as I know, but it's annoying and I would like to get them to work.

op gauge is prolly the wire is severed (was in my case...), or bad ground

as for the temp... try pullin the sensor out, and (with it plugged in) heat it with a lighter or butane torch...

Your thermostat might be stuck in the open position, causing the car to not get to hot. Oil sounds like the sensor is bad or disconnected.

how do i check to see if the thermo's stuck open?

and i was thinking that if the oil pressure guage was disconnected, it wouldn't work at all.. but it is all the way to the right, past 80

The only way to check the thermostat is to remove it, at that point you might as well change it. The plug for the sensor only gives the gauge a reading, it has nothing to do with it getting power. It is easy to see if it is connected, just the first step in seeing what is wrong. If it is plugged in make sure it has a good connection. If it does then most likely the sensor is bad.

I broke off my oil pressure guage and had to re-install a new one, and it is stuck at above 80 as well. It's been like that since like August, and my mechanic told me it's prolly just bad wiring, but I don't have the ambition to take off my intake manifold again and check the wiring lol. I know it doesn't take that long, but it's just a pain in the ass, and it's COLD!!!!

ok, well i already replaced the sensor a while ago, and it didn't help it all.. so i guess i'll swap out the thermostat for a better one and we'll see if that works

oh you have to take off the manifold to change it? it stopped working after my mechanic took my manifold off.. that must have been what caused the problem

Well it was my dumbass fault. The vaccum tube that connects the Manifold to the brake booster sits just behind the oil pressure sensor, and I pulled the manifold forward and broke my sensor. Then, in my infinate wisdom, just put the manifold back on and about 2 weeks later oil was spewing out of the back of the motor.

I had to pull off the manifold, replace the sensor (yes, I plugged it back in), and then re-install the manifold.

Your mechanic may have just not plugged it back in. And yes, you have to take off the manifold to get to it.
