had car towed TWICE today..ended up at a chevy dealer, where i should of went in the first place, and saved myself 800.00!and precious last weeks of summer driving.GM tech told me 95% of these so called 'PLUG AND PLAY' pcm's HAVE to be programmed by a GM TECH with a TECH2 scanner, but they don't tell you that..wonder why?this has been absolutely my worst nightmare,by no fault of my own..VERY EXSPENSIVE AND TIME WASTING EXPERIANCE..maybe just 98's?i don't know..ANYONE???

Sounds like you just found a Crappy Ebayer.... I would contact the Owner yet again and ask for a full refund and leave feedback accordingly. Glad it finaly worked out for ya.

Yeah that sounds like something a tech at dealership would say too... and it is absolutely not true, regardless of what he believes.

I stopped stocking 98 PCMs because of their cost.

Don't worry about Rodney; he's not a fly-by-night eBay guy. He programs and ships a LOT of PCMs. He is not a shady seller or a n00b. I'd vouch for his honesty and commitment. I know it sounds like a stretch that your luck (and Rodney's) would be this bad, but there is NO REASON why you shouldn't be able to drop the PCM in there and go. I have sent out many many many; I'd know if there were some impossibility.

like i said, rodney HAS been great!we're waiting to see what the dealer can do,document it,and then work on a fair resolution for both of us.never had a bad word about rodney, and he's NOT the remaner,i'm still going to have it re-programed by him,as far as i'm concerned,he's one of the best programers on e-bay.in all fairness, being a '98 has been the biggest problem, period.sincerely A.GREEN

first thing to check is the thick rubber gasket that runs between the top of cowl-firewall area, and the hood.it is held in with plastic push-ins,but here's where they should be glued,or sealed with silicone.the factory glue becomes dried up after awhile, and alllows water to leak right down the firewall-to the...yep you guessed it right into the top of the pcm plugs.heavy rains, car washes are the biggest culprits.and of course IF u garage your car,the less likely it will happen.so check UNDER that rubber gasket for glue-seal.this is what happened to my car originally,so i know first hand.don't wait!!
