275hp on a 98ls1???? Seems kinda low. Did it have alot of miles and was it an automatic. Did it have a big stall converter in it or somthing?? Most 98's ive seen at the lowest are in the high 280's. Some lucky enough to break the 300 mark. Of course all dynos are different so the numbers are neglagable. Only way to really know how much power your puting out is by taking it to the track.

Original poster said both the '98 and the '02 were automatics, doesn't sound too far off. Especially if both car were dyno'd with low miles as a baseline before the owner started moding the cars.

For comparison, my friend dynoed his 98 Z stock and got 275 RWHP. Same Dyno with his 02 Stock was 299 RWHP. Between 998 and 02, reguardless of HP ratings, the LS1 was improved by GM to 15-20 HP. Both cars were auto.

man, you guys think way highly of the Mach 1. I've raced an 04 Mach 1 (auto) in my girlfriends bone stock 2000 GT 5spd and it wasn't a contest as the GT won by at least 2 cars each time. That's been the same result I've seen with each combo raced...but when both were Auto's, it was pretty much whomever could launch the best would win.

Those Mach 1 isn't anything more than the SS is to the Z28.

the Z will destroy all those cars. the mach 1 is about the same as the 01 cobra.

But the cobra does have a faster 1/4 time.

I say its a driver race.

The auto mach and a 5 speed mach are a different animal....better gearing and redlines a lot higher due to the diff crank.

I wasn't aware of a different crank between auto and manual of the same car. But it doesn't really change much since all the combo's I've seen ran between the cars ends up generally the same result.
