    02 trans am general info help

    Whats up folks im new to this site I just bought an 02 trans am 6 speed not a ws6 does have the ls1 but its blown so im lookin for a new motor maybe a 6.0 ive never really been real indepth into fuel inj either im a diesel mech so I can work on my own stuff so let me know if anybody has any opinions or advice I would greatly appreciate it

    99 trans am

    ive seen complete 6 liters at salvage yards for around $1100 with a 1 year warranty...its a direct replacement other than you gotta drill and tap a hole for the alternator bracket.

    Welcome to the site! For the money, your best bet would be a replacement short or long block LS1, depending on how badly yours is damaged.

    yea, get a ls1 block, forge it and throw in a nice torque cam while you're there. you will be happy. Then you can always spray if you need it. I have a stock ls1 block with small cam, cheap heads. 3.90 gears. My first and second gear are worthless on the street in weather under 70 degrees even with nittos. So no need for even more wasted power in a street car. I also subscribe to the gas though, just in case.
