^^^That's what I was gonna say. Should only be a nominal charge, since they get to keep the freon. Have 'em suck it out! Only other way would be to discharge it into the air, that's supposed to be a no-no.

I don't dig shops for one thing,
I've had them try to scam me one too many times,
I do all my own work,
Just hav'nt done much work on the air system other than refilling them with r-134

A shop will have it done in no time. That is the only legal way of going about this unless you have a recovery system.
If not, I have been forced into dumping it into the air working at Cat, it didn't get on anything really But properly recovery the system is the right way of doing things, and will cost you little.

If you want to discharge your A/C you'll have to have a shop do it. You can hook a gauge up and just open the valve and dump it to atmosphere but if you get caught you're screwed. The A/C is half liquid half gas and by just venting the gas you don't discharge the liquid portion in the condensor that's why have a shop suck it dry

Liquid R134 has a boiling point of around -20F. It will boil and discharge completely if you just open the system, but the right way to do this is go to a shop. They won't rip you off.

Can I vent HFC-134a refrigerant?
It is illegal under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act to knowingly vent substitute refrigerants during any service, maintenance, repair or disposal of an appliance.
Proposed section 608

and in many states, a police officer can ticket you for having emissions equipment removed. unless you can back up your claims with legal proof we can verify, do not say you can do it.
florida statute 316.2935 regarding removal of catalytic converters. it includes NO PERSON.

lol ! That's something I'd a like to have done.
As it were I wound up going to a shop and they charged me $40
But my Radiator will recieve more air and the car is going to be a whole lot lighter,
May have gone the other way discharging the system myself but I was at lol the Hvac guys shop early this morning and did not get a chance to read all the response's,
I will try and weigh the system a let you all know how much weight it saves
Thanks ! Bon
