    $2gs and 98 stock ws6, what should i do?

Ok so I haven't got the car yet, but it's only a matter of working out the financing, I have $2000 I'm looking to drop into the car right away. Wanted to let everyone on here give me an idea what they would do first.

Put it on the finacing so your payments will be less per month...or put1.500 on finacing and keep 500 for exhaust or whatever.

yeah that was my original plan, but I was curious to know what people think would be the best first mods to a stock ws6 would be.

98 WS6? Go with the ls6 manifold first off, Longtube headers, Y pipe, Exhaust. Save the old exhaust if it's the one on the left, very rare and if you want to go back to original you still can. Lid, pulley, and you're good. With a 2000 price limit, go LT's, catback, Ls6 manifold and lid, that should be around $2000

    $70---used lid
    $500--- coated Pacesetters and ORY
    $275---Hooker CB
    $365---BMR LCA & SFC & PHR

$1210 Total which leaves $790 for shipping and installation.

Above will net you 35-45 hp at the wheels and the BMR shit will put the power to the ground. I wouldn't pay $449 for a LS6 manifold until you get a bigger cam to go with it, the manifold by itself is alot of $$$ for the gains you will see with a stock cam.

Maybe its becuase I'm tired but you are going to have to tell me what PHR is? I would have thought that a stock ws6 lid would be a good item as is?

PanHard Rod----helps in cornering and tends to keep the rear end centered, power mods are great but you have to make sure you are putting it to the ground and at the same time protecting the weak 10 bolt that came on the car.

Aftermarket lid is one of the first recommended mods for our cars. It outflows the stock lid which has baffles and restrictions, usually netting anywhere between 6-12 hp at the rear wheels.

Haha thanks for clearing that up for me. Just couldn't think of it.

So where can you get a used lid? Also when shopping for parts online, what site do you recommend?

765 extra? You can install all those mods yourself just ask some of the members on the board or shoot me a PM and I'll give you a write up. With that extra cash, since you're looking into an ORY, get the LS6 manifold and go to a tuner to have the EGR and rear O2's deleted out of the PCM. Trust me, the manifold will be worthwhile and will provide a good base to your future mods.

Red---if you read his posts it doesn't sound like he is going to be jumping right into header installs and such does it? That's why I left $$$ out for installs. I agree that's alot of $$$ for more mods but if we are being realistic with our suggestion you have to leave $$$ aside for installs. If another member wants to jump in and help him install great! But that's not a gurantee

Plus shipping isn't free either, the headers and CB will be around $80 because of weight, that's what I paid, and I'm sure the BMR stuff will be pricey to ship also. I agree with the LS6 manifold but if you check my post I suggested waiting til he gets a bigger cam to go with taht manifold for some real gains.

I'm thinking about doing the full exhaust system, air lid, and the SFC,LCA,PHR atleast. I've never installed an exhaust system myself. I live in San Jose,CA and go to school in Tempe, AZ if anyone lives around there and is interested in helping when the time comes.

Also, I'm not much of a Nitrous fan.

if the car is an automatic, get a stall converter! no other mod will give you better gains outside of spraying it.
a tci converter installed is about 1000.
nitto 555r tires to hold traction are about 300 for a set.
    lid is about 100.
ls6 intake installed will be about 600

pulley, ported TB, lid, ls6 intake, LT's, stock catback and a cutout. shifter, phb, lca's, sfc's and that should get you by for now. im sure im missing a few other things, but that would get your foot in the door so to speak.

I do understand about the LT's and such but with the Pacesetter's it's pretty easy to install yourself. I'm in San Jose so I can help him out if necessary. The only thing that comes to my attention though is this. Is the car going to be registered in Ca or Az? Cause with emmisions here nowadays, it's a PITA to pass with LT's and an ORY. I have the pacesetter LT's and ORY setup with the rear O2 delete and I'm dreading my smog date so I'm looking into a set of 3" cats just to pass the damn visual and possibly the sniffer. I hate smog testing! But as far as the manifold, Hurley is right about the install and it would be best to have it all professionally welded together instead of those stupid clamps they give you. Most shops around here charge about $600 for labor and the LS6 manifold can wait.

it can wait, but if he has the money, then why not...you could also get shocks and springs...or just shocks...something else to think about.
