that has to throw the 50-50 weight ratio completely out the window of that little go-kart. I'm sure it would be big fun on the highway or even drag strip but I can't imagine it being great in the twisties.

All of the above......twisted frame, weight ratio, RX7 rear end are incorrect. Miatas containing V8 engines are built by people whom understand how to set a car up. They have sub-frames &/or bracing, coil overs, big brakes, about a 47/53 or 45/55 weight ratio, GM or Ford tansmissions (usually) & either GM or Ford rear ends (usually) + several other features in their design. The worst thing one can do w/ a V8 Miata is to degrade it by taking it to an AutoX course . V8 Miatas are great fun for street, oval track, & road course racing. As the video shows, they are also good on the fag cone courses. The only thing that a V8 Miata isn't is a drag racer.

Around here we call Miata's the "Midlife Crisis Mobile's"... I woulda never known they were dropping V8's in em.

i thought it was kind of b.s. when i heard him say that they beat corvettes.....but the horsepower to weight ratio....i think the guy says they are a 2300lb car stock....i rode in a v-8 powerd 260z once and that was a big thrill....350 chevy with a m22 4spd.

That was true until the C6 Z06 came along & actually 525HP is more than even a properly race built Miata can use effectively. The max. useable HP seems to be in the 400 to 450HP range. Anything more is just a conversation piece. The two limiting factors are its' short wheel base & tire size limitations (& yes, I own one & speak from experience).
Same is true for EVO's. Guys are making insane (too much) boosted HP on these short wheel based cars & eventually we will here increasing cases of EVO's slaming into walls. Ya just can't overcome a short wheel base, all wheel drive or not. That's the beauty of a Vette or even an F-body, the wheel base & wheel wells will allow for 750+ HP effectively.
