    WRX's Not too fast???????

I was looking at 1/4 mile time on clubwrx.net and was not too impressed with some of the 1/4 mile times, and the MPH's were not too good eaither, most of them below 100 mph for stock ones.

60ft times were ok i guess 1.8-1.9 but I can get 2.00 in my Z28

I guess they just dont have good top end but can launch good.

    Whats your experiances with WRX's

    Thanks, jason

Regular WRX's run a low 14 sec. 1/4 mile. The STi can run a low to mid 13 sec. pass. It runs out of gas at top end though.

It's when they're modded that you worry.

When my car was stock I used to race my friend's stock WRX all the time. He'd get about 1.5 lengths on the launch but by mid 3rd gear I'd have him by 2 lengths. That's with a stock and SLOW E36 M3. Not so stock now, but still slow.

Stock WRXs only trap about 93-94mph.

But, don't forget, they only have 227-230hp. STi has 300hp and can trap over 100mph with mid to low 13's.

Considering how little power the WRX has, it's quite quick. Even a stock one will definitely get the jump on you on the street.

Seriously though...... what'd you expect with 227hp??? Kinda funny that it has the same 0-60 as a stock ls1 fbody. After that...... goodbye.

Just think if the LS1 F-Body had AWD

On the street is it very hard not to roast the tires on a LS1 F-Body. You have 300-350 HP going to two wheels

In the WRX you have 227 going to 4 wheels

WRX's have about 175awhp, going to all four wheels (The newer one's are reported to have 200whp). We have roughly 300whp going to 2 tires, and through a joke ass suspension system. If you look at where the lower control arms bolt to you will see the skinniest metal casting you will ever find on a car.

I swear GM put a $6-7K engine in a $1K suspension car. The engine is what you are paying for.

The rear suspension is the same as from a 1982 Camaro

I did upgrade mine with tubular rear lower control arms (Yet to run it at thr track with these)

I wonder if with the RLCA, new 245/50/16 tires, and the addition of the SLP smooth bellows I wonder if a 12.9 could be possible? I have run a best of 13.3@106 with 2.0-2.1 60ft

Im not impressed with the regular WRX at all. My Friend with a mildly modded BMW 323i 5 spd beat a wrx by a good 2-3 cars.

The regular WRX isn't all that quick (The newer one's are ok though). The automatic versions really suck up power. I'm surprised a 323i beat one, cause a WRX should school one of those pretty badly I would think (BMW 323's run mid to low 15's 1/4 mile wise).

No thanks (on the awd fbody).

It would launch harder, then be slower from there. Plus, the added weight would hurt handling and fuel economy.

You can pull 1.8 60' times with just drag radials. (like the wrx).

Either way, they're decently quick cars for what they are. And they're pretty cheap to mod.

At a stoplight, they're dangerous. It takes till 80mph or more to catch up. By then, the race is over. The difference is that they'll still pull a 1.8 60' on the street while we'll pull closer to a 2.4 (white lines at the light KILL traction).

The day that I ran my 12.8, there were thre STI's running. The best time put down by them that day was 13.7. One stayed in the 14's. I know they are much quicker than that if the driver launches correctly.

+1. Buddy of mine has an '05 STI making 485/485 at the wheels with full boost around 4500. It's pretty friggin fast.

As far as stock WRX's go: eat 'em up all day
Stock STI: If you've got some basic mods or are a real good driver, eat 'em up all day
Modded STI's: Hope he just has bolt-ons and not a bigger turbo. That's when things get sticky...

I dunno if he beat the driver. Trap speed 1/4 mile wise the 323 shouldn't touch him, but hey, anything can happen on the street. Some dude ran a 2005 Viper at the track I go to to a mid 13 sec. pass.

not to get off the subject I saw a black EVO (both sure what year) run a 13.4and 13.2 that last time i was out at the track.

What kind of MPH do they trap?
