Will 4.11 help my 1/4 ET, maybe put me in the 10's

Curent setup is in sig. My curent gear is 3.70. Im making about 480rwhp. I went to the track this past friday and made a motor pass this was the result.

    60'....1.60
    330....4.59
    1/8....7.11
    mph....97.38
    1000....9.30
    1/4....11.15
    mph....121.89

If I change to the 4.11's how much would this help my 60' & 1/4 time and would my trap speed go up or down? I'm looking for possibly a 10 sec ET if I change to this gear?

4.11's will definitely put u in the 10's. Your trap speed will drop a little I believe. The problem will be getting 480hp to the ground thru 4.11 gears, lol. You may have to baby it, hope you got a modded rear. If not, get ready to put one in!

It depends on if your 3.70 gears are too low and the 4.11's will bring you closer (but not above) to the engine's power peak in 4th gear. Quite a few people change gears and slow the car down by going too big. Nitrous cars are notorious for this issue.

Not enough info to make a reasonable recommendation. What's your current finish line rpm now? Where do you make peak power?

For optimum ET you need to be SEVERAL HUNDRED rpm beyond peak HP as you finish the 1/4 mile (ending up at peak HP in high gear at the line means you did not maximize your HP in that gear). How far about peak HP you want to be depends on the tranny, and if it is an automatic, how lose the converter is, and does it lock up. You have an auto with a modest stall, so 500-600 rpm above peak HP is probably a reasonable goal.

It may or may not help your 60 ft, depending upon traction. If you have no traction issues, and more gear doesn't cause you any traction issues, then it will help. Certainly your car - as it sits - should do better than 1.60 60 fts (based on what you have in your sig line). If those M/T's don't spin, you might try a different style of launch....you have a VERY heavy car to get moving. More gear will help move that.

Overall, I wouldn't expect more than perhaps .07-.10 improvement in ET going from 3.70 to 4.10 with no other changes.

Will this help you to answer my question?
I make peak hp at 6400rpm and max tor is at 5400rpm. My shift points are at 6800rpm at the moment. Rev limiter is set at 7200. Im crossing the line at about 5800 rpm in 3rd gear and this is with the 370 gear. Sorry I didnt think to post this when I first started this thread.
    WIll 4.11 work for me?

Also will I need to change my shift points or keep them the same?

5800 finish line rpm is killing both ET and MPH - you need to be up near 7000 as you go through the traps. You are WAY under-geared, so definately step up to 4.10s, and if traction holds, I would go with a 26" tire vice the 28" tire in your sig. Assuming good traction, those changes will pick you up everywhere.....60 ft....330 ft....1/8th mile ET & MPH, and 1/4 mile ET & mph.

In fact, given how poorly-geared you are now, you could easily pick up a couple of full tenths with the gear and the shorter tire.

Your shift points could probably use to come up a couple hundred rpm, but they are not too bad, IMO.

    Good luck.

Would using this gear be ok to spray 150 shot with the 28" tires that im currently runing?

Or maybe I should wait untill I make a pass with these new gears and find out where Im at on motor first?

Based on what you have told me, I'd suggest the 4.10s and 26" tires would work best N/A. If you want to spray it, then the 28" tires might be better.

    New Best On Motor.

Well turns out I didnt have 3.70 gears I had 3.89's but I went ahead and switched to the 4.11's. So far Ive droped .15 off my time and get this from 3.89's to 4.11's I picked up 3.9 almost 4 mph. I was at 121.89 and after gears went to 125.79. And ended up runing a 10.994 with a 1.56 60ft.

Both times I ran last was against a an 08 shelby gt500 making 725rwhp went 10.60 @ 133 with a 1.63 60 ft. then he went 11.10 to my new best NA 10.994 @125. The juice is coming on real soon.

Wow you were really anxious that first pass lol. Good times though man, glad you were able to find 10's on the motor. Any plans for weight reduction?

Well the car weighs 3816 right now with me in and 3645 without me. Since this is still a street strip car I was planning on keeping it the way it is. Once I find another toy to play with for the street Ill make this my drag only car and try to get the weight down between 3000 and 3100 with me in it.

How well would those work with the spray though?

it'll rev to fast for spray but than again the 411 might too not enough difference from 370 to 410 you most likely won't feel it and only see a tenth on the track sounds like rpm wise you really could use the 430 n/a
