    Where to Launch!!

I have a 2002 Z28, just got done installing pacesetter LT's, NGK TR55 Spark plugs, TSP True Duals w/sweet thunder mufflers, and a K&N Filter... and has NOT been tuned.... Im thinking of taking her to the track this thursday for the local test n tune night.. I was wondering where everyone thinks would be the best place to try to get her to launch... i was thinking maybe right around 2000-2400 RPMs...

I actually tried to launch it earlier today on the way home from work, and for some reason when i shifted from 2nd to 3rd, it was like i was in neutral, the rpms kept climbing but i went nowhere! thinking maybe i need a new clutch?! it is stock tires too!

sounds like a case of the "i need to do the drill mod" istalluniversity has a good how to on that. Mine did that prior also.

To answer your question.....simply try a bunch of different things to see which works best for your car on that given day/night. There are many factors that effect traction: temps, track prep, etc.

Generally, most of the guys running bolt on M6 cars on street tires and the stock 10 bolt find that 1500 - 2000 is the sweet spot. That's usually enough to get you off of the line without bogging down or roasting the tires.

Regarding the clutch....if you still have the stock clutch, welcome to the "my stock clutch stinks" club! We've all had to deal with this at one time or another. Many folks have remedied this problem with the "drill mod"....check out installuniversity for the instructions. Alternatively, I simply threw in a LS7 clutch kit and that fixed the problem.
