What launches better
15"-16"-or 17" drag radials. Does the bigger sidewall of a 15" absorb the shock of a M6 launch just like slicks do? Can anyone really say which one will get the quicker 60 foot?

15" will do the best as stated in last reply. I do 1.28 60's ALL day with a 275/60/15 E.T. Drag Radial on a 15x8 rim.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Sorry didnt know you had tried all 3 sizes and I was hoping 16" or 17" would work just as good.

It just depends on you objective. Hooking at the track or on street....?
The 16" only one company offers a tall one with a decent side wall versus a rubber band. I think it was Hoosier but can't remember it was a few months ago. Anyways it did A LOT better on the street than the 275/40/17's that are on the Goat now. Don't get me wrong they hook at the track (1.65 60's)with a good prep and proper tire pressure but the street is a whole nother ball game.

All you need to do if you think that is going to help that much is measure your pinion angle now. Unless your sitting at 0 now the lower control arms ARE not going to change it that much!! Putting V-6 springs from the boneyard will make 3 time the difference the arms would. Not to mention 1/4 of the price.
Nitto's + Clutch = Tire smoke......

I was doing relocation brackets with the LCA that supposedly makes a big difference.

Yeah what they are doing is changing your pinion angle by addind the relocation brakets and changing the length. It's VERY easy to measure where your at now.
What you need is a protractor and a 11/16 deep socket.
Roll your car to where one of the u joint caps is facing straight down.
Now place the socket on the u joint cap making sure the body is flush with the cap and not sitting on ANY retainer clip.
Now lay the protractor guage across the other end of the socket face and see what angle your at.
We almost ALWAYS only change the upper to adjustables. That way we cahnge the angle when ever we want not being stuck with whatever we end up with there pre decided length. I've learned over the years EVERY car is different. Weather or not it's been hit or someone has power shifted for years without sub frame connectors it all changes the squareness of the frame.

No I stated that I have a car that does 1.28 60 fts ALL day. And yes that is a Mercury Capri. And when I told you to put V-6 springs in I'm referring to ANY F body GM. They NEVER offered ANY fox body with a V-6 by the way.
My GTO does 1.62's on 17's and 1.58's on 16's.
But do what you want.
I've offered my guidence.
Just let us know how bad you still spin with the Nittos and lca.

The inline 3.3L was discontinued in 82 or 83 (don't remember for sure).
I have no clue how rare the 3.8 V6s are or were, only that they were available. It is really pretty irrelevant, just something that caught my eye.

Sorry Im gettin confused here. Your saying you put 6cyl springs in the rear of your GTO and used 16 and 17 but not 15" and the 16's worked better getting you a dam good 1.58 on Hoosier radials. Any other suspension mods to the GTO or just tires and rear springs?

This just happened to pop up on the local classifieds (I'm selling my Harley and keep an eye on the Forum). http://tidewaterracing.com/forums/sh...threadid=29758
I really don't have any clue how rare those are, just that they exist.

From 2001 to 2004, I raced in a heads-up class in which Drag Radials were required. All of us - every one - used 15" DRs. Most used a 60 series tire, which has more sidewall than a 50 series. The reason is to take advantage of the extra tire flex.
So yes, everything else being equal, a 15" DR will hook better than a 16" or 17" DR.
