You know the car is capable of mid 12's. Question is, how good are you banging gears? Going to Infineon or Sac?

I like Sac, it's only about 50 feet above sea level, decent track from what little I've been there.

Times? Ha, depends on how good you can drive.

If you been to Sac you must remember that crummy return road. Buuuut you do get lots of practice there.

It takes a decent amount of practice to get the driving down with the 6-speed. I had 75 passes with the 402 and 4.11's....but still didn't have it down.

4.11's a lot of times = up in smoke = 2.3 or worse 60 foot times.

If you can hook it - I'd say upper 12's if you're a 'good' driver. If not, you could be as slow as upper 13's or even lower 14's.

Best bet for you is to roll out off the line the first time and then dont try to hammer the shit out of the shifter, make sure you HIT the gears. I am betting you will get int he 13s and after you get some confidence you are more apt to be able to hamme the gears.

Just go with trying to complete a run WITHOUT F^cking it up and then you will get progressively better and better.

Return road didn't bother me much, I just loved the near sea level conditions. Good DA if you went when the weather was cool. I usually make an effort to swing in there every time we come up to visit family. Luckily I've never broken the car and have always made the trip back home.

    For your average bolt-on car.....yes.
I was cutting 1.67's spinning. Dead hooking created a bog. Thought about going to 4.30's or 4.56's.

Liking the 4.10's in the TBSS with the AWD. No spinning on wet roads.....

Ideally....go run it. More practice, the better. Going to take time to learn it.
And as soon as you change something, more learning....

Driving tips......... First off let me give you some BASIC MUST'S FOR GOOD ET'S

The front tires on 75% of the peoples cars on Here are HUGE!!
With that said you Must drive around the water box THEN back up to do your burn out.
When you Don't water is retained in those steam rollers up front & Slowly runs out of the tread depths.

Second if those Hoosiers are fresh with your mild motor they will only Need minor heat to hook. A good habit to get in so You can make your Own routine is adjust your mirror so you can watch the tire. Soon as you see smoke let off the brake & roll forward. Stop quickly WITHOUT locking the brakes. Take a deep breath...... Look down the lane & focus on the "groove" which will be the shiny strips that are the stickiset. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ROLLING UP TO THE LINE WHILE LINING THE CAR UP IN THE GROOVE.

Don't Worry about the Other person or ANYONE ELSE WATCHING!! TAKE YOUR TIME & STAY RELAXED.

When staffing the car Make it a Habit to stage the car AS SHALLOW AS POSSIBLE. After you click on that First yellow bulb ONLY INCH FORWARD TINY INCREMENTS UNTIL THAT SECOND BULB LIGHTS UP. The More shallow You stage the Better the ET due to having Bigger charge on the Big end.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT CUTTING GOOD LIGHTS YET!!
Just get Comfortable & in a Routine so You are doing the Same thing EVERY PASS.

Hope this will Help aid your passes. I have been making passes grabbing gears since I was 14.......
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

    Sadly now demodded :(

    All good info above.

Concerning the lights: Once you've gotten used to how the tree works you should aim to leave on the 3rd yellow before the green. The interval between lights is .5 seconds and it takes the average person roughly that length of time to "see the light and engage the throttle".

Have fun. LS2 Tuner, I don't know how old you are but I ran my 1st quarter mile at 16 down Lions Dragstrip back in 71...

And I still cut sub .2 RT's. I love running rookies, especially if the've got a slightly faster car. Tree 'em at the start and most of 'em can't run you down.

If you're on a stock 10 bolt 2 months in the 1/4.. (time to replace broke 10 bolt).. Again this is only if you still have the stock 10 bolt under the car.

Don't let any of this get you down tho lol. A 14 second car is no joke, Should crush about 70% of Ricers lol, and seeing you have more mods to get done still. consider it a starting point.

How much juice are you thinking on running?

My first time down the track in my s10 with a basic 350 heads and intake and full exhaust I was a one wheel wonder and rand mid 15's haha

Posi'd up and put 4.11s and some slicks and shaved down to 14.2

then put a nice sized cam in and a 650 DP holley carb put me at 13.2

(new motor) 385 ^^^ same stuff as above but 11.1 compression and 125 shot of juice in 2nd and 3rd gear and now I'm running 11.55's all day. Stock S10 rear end =) Only time before that bad boy goes BOMB!
