Went to the track Sat. morning.

Still completely stock 02 ws6 a4, best run was

    RT - .250
    60FT - 2.08
    1/8th - 8.46
    1/4 - 13.1 @ 106

got video I can put up soon.

Anyways my real point of posting is that I have a whining noise, I think its my power steering, it only happens when the car is warm, usually when I run it hard though, almost like a supercharger but its even on low rpms, think I might need to replace the pump?

Also my tranny I think might be out of tune... or just shit? Car has 30k miles so I wouldn't think it would go bad but when I run it hard it almost like redlines before it shifts I feel like a thump or two before it shifts, but no redlining noise, tho I did hear a redlining noise on one run.

Car was sitting at a dealer before I picked it up a month ago, belt dry rotted so I figure it might be just out of tune.

The car idles at 2100 going 80 on the highway and shifts at 2000-2100 when driving normal in the city.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Nice time. As for your tranny going out I highly doubt it. Seeing how you are an a4 with only 30k miles its pretty unheard of with that low of miles. You are going to have to be more specific on where the wine is coming from.

The whine is the power steering a couple people have been saying, but its been flushed out because it had some condensation build up, like it was watery and brown like a creamed out coffee.

The tranny is prolly just out of tune, but why would it redline when it's in D lol

My guess was the person who had the car before you had the car tuned for it to red line is my guess. Simple fix if you know someone who has soft where . Plus seeing how you are stock you are truly gaining nothing by it red lining.

ws6 or not has nothing to do with it....13.3 is not 13.1...especially 13.1 with a "problem transmission" if the trans is indeed malfunctioning...if it was fixed your looking at 12.7-9 if not faster.

i doubt a transmission would put it in the 12.7-9 category........

you dont think sloppy shifts will cost you .4 ? if so then you are sorely mistaken my friend...say 1 Mississippi...thats 1 second...you dont think a redlining/sloppy shift wont cause that ??

even better..get TM removed from a transmission and see how much better it shifts and faster..faster = better times...slow and sloppy = slower times

While were on the subject of tm why is it even in our puters to have torque management?

to help wear and tear on our transmission that is the official GM reason...that and driveability comfort....manuals naturally have TM...when they engage the clutch it acts just like TM.

ahhh i am sure it will lower the life of the tranny but i mean people run without it for years and have had no problems...its all in your set-up and how you drive....some also just dial it down a little bit..in 98-00 the TM is a little more intrusive...fyi i will remove TM and up line pressure when i get my HP tunners
