I just like doing things a little differently. It is going to be an entertaining project. Just like the rest of the car.

And I am still cam only!

Also does anyone know what this is?
It is located under the carpet on the passenger side. It looks like something for anti theft?
    Click for full size
That is the vehicle black box.. iirc

It takes a log @ the time of a crash of what the car was doing just before impact...

What happens if you remove it? Do you get a dash light or anything?

I don't know.. But I've never heard of it triggering any warning lights either.. I can't see it causing problems if you remove it as it's not an integral part of the PCM or engine operation.. iirc

It's basicly just an accelorometer(sp) and records a few seconds of data..

I had to finish my business taxes last night so I didn't get to play in the garage! Damn gment.....lol

Tonight I am stopping by a friends to borrow the tool to remove the seat belts so I can gut the interior. (my parents are going to love the interior of the camaro in the dining room)

That black box iirc is going to a sensor type thing on the floor. I will investigate a little more and get pics.
    Thanks steve

Damn, that's a lot to sort through and it looks like you're doing a real good job of it. Look forward to seeing what it comes down to on the scales

Could it be the inertia sensor for the air bags?

Never heard of such a thing..

    Intresting...

I thought the sensors for the air bags were in the bumpers?..

Why would it carry an FCC warning?

Nope apparently both the sensors are in the cabin one under the pass and one under the driver.

Its not a warning but a fcc id number. Just saying that it applies buy standards. My mouse that im using right now has it.

    I stand corrected..

I had no idea about the air bag sensors under the seats..

My recollection is that the systems on most vehicles include two (or more) impact sensors and an inertia sensor. At least two of the sensors have to trip to light off the air bags.

    Makes sense..

I thinking prolly so if you bump a trash can or some other light impact you don't set off your bags easily..

But rather possibly needs a more serious impact where forces begin to impact the occupants..

My guess is that's why the inertial sensor is under the seats.

As this is the area the driver and passenger would be..

If the force of the impact reaches the sensor, eirgo(sp), it must be acting heavily on the occupants so the bags are/need to be deployed..

Least that's what I get out of it..

So I get home today and my Dad already had the bumper support out of the box. I really wanted to get pictures of how it was packaged. But he confirmed it was top notch. The welds are perfect and its a thick powder coat. It even came with grade 8 bolts washers and nylocs. To be honest with it fit PERFECT. If anyone is interested in getting one of these DO IT!!! If you want more pictures let me know.

Well my dad wasn't feeling well so we didn't work on anything in the engine bay. So I went head first in cutting up the harness in the cabin. Here are some pictures along the way. I used various wiring diagrams and labeled what NOT to cut first. Kept the bcm and the other black box I have no clue what it does plugged in. I started with the rear speakers and went from there. Enjoy the pictures.

I'd like to see it!!! I'm looking to do the same thing I've had the whole interior out for like a year now. I'm just extremely nervous tomes with the wiring. Bc it my DD still. lts just a driver and passenger seat but I want it to look good in there too, but there's just wires everywhere. I cut out the whole radio and speakers but put in my own radio an amp

this's what I originally wanted to do, but I can't find anybody willing to sell me their TA dashboard(98-02) and i looked everywhere for one. i was wanting to put that in an do this for the gauge setup

    this for the dash

with these seats with no console between them, just my m6 shifter
    with this carpet

    & then finally a cage

I would really love to get this done by summer. So if anybodys up for helping That'll be great...... LoL

Hey 02Sweet, I have a couple of questions for you! lts about your weight reduction:
    1) your a/c was removed, but were you able to keep the heating tho? As you know it gets cold here, & I'm a bitch when it comes to it being cold lol!!!
    2) for your your wipers how were you only able to keep only one of them?
    3) rad overflow 1 quart??? will any do?
    4) for the AIR system, how'd you keep the car running? Bc I pulled the fuse and the car just bogged down and nearly died until I shut her down I was afraid of ruining something so does that have to be tuned out? or will it not do that it if I just remove the whole system?
    5) rear defroster, whats going lexan mean??
6)and finally what wire did you solder to loop the seatbelt?
The sound of your piss hitting the urinal.......yea it sounds feminine!
