I run the Strange 12 bolt which has a much beefier torque arm area than the previous Moser I had. Strange and Currie have their housings cast at a different facility per their design where as Moser cast their own, so you'll see alot of design difference between the two.
The Strange 12 bolt is a stout piece, I even like their billet cap design, the older moser I had still used cast iron caps (they could have switched to billet by now though, not sure.)

Best to talk to Strange about it, they can give you all the ins and outs about why they like the 12 bolts in the torque arm applications.

Nothing wrong with the 9" either, I have 2 of them in different platform cars here. I just didn't want one in our 4th gen. It's my wifes car and her primary driver, I was looking at things like HP to turn the 9" and gas mileage affect, Pinion offset, and needing a shorter driveshaft (ie: new shaft) that adds to the cost, etc....another factor I considered was the overall weight the other rears add.
The Dana is a nice choice too, but just simply overkill for what I do with this particular car.

Sweet. You know I wasn't trying to talk you into a 12 bolt. Only stating some things I thought about and why I used one in our 4th gen.

That's ok I was looking for an upgrade and this fell into my lap and I got a great deal, besides its the only true GM rear end

    A 12 bolt 9"or Dana 60 even a modded 8.8 would have worked.

I lost out on Ebay for a Dana 60 last fall.

I almost had a 9" out of Buffalo but some one beat me to it last week.

That's great. I had another 4th gen 12 bolt I sold early this year, it was all new, new Eaton, new 33 spline axles with all new bearings and 4.10 gears I let go for $2,000. Had it forsale for less than a week and it was gone quick. They are hot tomatoes it seems.
Then I turned around later and bought another complete setup from Strange and dropped $3k on that one. This stuff ain't cheap

That's a nice gear. This most recent 12 bolt I installed in my wifes 6 speed car has 3.73's.

I think the 3.73 will be perfect for my stalled A4.

I assume you are running factory 3.23's currently? If so that 3.73 will be a nice improvement. Should see a drop in 60 foot times.

I drove up and looked at that F Body 12 bolt and bought it for 2k.

It does have a few nice features.

3.73's aluminum cover, 33 spline axles,1/2 inch studs,,ABS reluctor wheels, LS1 backing plates and powder coated black.
