    Track Tools & Supplies

I am assembling a list of items to take to the track in order to be prepared for most anything that may occur. As I am a novice at this, I am seeking input on anything else that may be recommeded. I am also looking for some feedback on a canopy -- we need something decent as it will probably see frequent use.

    The List:

    Basic hand tools
    Torque wrench
    Floor jack
    Jackstands
    Fire extinguisher
    Canopy and chairs
    Generator
    Air compressor
    Extension cord
    Wood blocks
    Wheel chocks
    Hand towels
    Paper towels
    Distilled H20
    Engine oil
    Transmission Fluid
    P/S Fluid
    Brake Fluid
    Engine coolant
    Cooler
    Electrical kit
    Flashlight
    Portable lighting
    First Aid kit
    Fuel container
    Cleaning supplies
    Window marker
    Helmet
    Tow strap
    OBDII Scanner
    HP Tuners
    Laptop
    Tire pressure gauge
    Duct tape
    Electrical tape
    Zip ties
    Cat litter
    RTV sealant

    What else?

Not so crowded at our track -- the most passes I have made on a T&T day was probably 9. I could have easily gone 40 or 50 passes had I hot lapped the hell out of the car.

I know you said you were buying a trailer, but before that....where in the world did you put all that stuff?

Never took chairs, generator or air compressor to the track before. I used a small 12 volt portable air pump about the size of a brick.

Ah ok. I've never taken anything really, just a tool kit and if I had slicks, I'd take the jack. Some of the stuff on the list is already in the car, like the glove box and trunk.

Except now, I have to invest in a helmet.

    Blue painters tape...

Put it on your quarter panels so you don't have to worry about cleaning off rubber later.

How about an air tank instead of the compressor? In all likelyhood you won't be rebuilding the car just adjusting. I usually take basic tools, 1 jack stand, floor jack & a piece of plywood in case the pits are grass like Mason Dixon is. I check fluids before I leave home, if it starts to leak oil from anywhere it's the end of the day for me as the repair will probably not be doable in the field. I have 2 batteries for the laptop so no generator required since I also don't need to run the compressor. I have a volt meter & a box full of wire & connectors. Spare fuse for the cig lighter as that will blow on occasion & leave the data port unpowered. Spare serpentine belt is handy. Pen, safety gear & cash.

I got 5lbs of rubber on each side but I don't care, it blends in with the black paint.

I have seen guys use that clear sticky plastic film for that.

We usually go with a group, so a compressor is almost a necessity with the amount of air we use. Spare belt is a good idea... never thought about fuses.
