    Track times with 01ss

just got my 01 SS A4 about a 2 weeks an ago with 84K an decided to head to the track tonight with some freinds. the car is bone stock besides a K&N filter drop in and ran a best of 13.2 @ 104.77 with a 1.9 60. i was pretty surprised as i was only expecting mid 13's at best. does this sound about right for a stock A4 SS?

    I would have only expected a 2.00 60' that 1.9 certainly helped, out of curiosity what exactly was your 60'? Stock my 00 z28 a4 went 14.36 with a 2.07 60' at 105mph.
Certainly some nice passes and a strong car you have there

Thanks for the #'s I was curious because for the longest time I was running 13.1's w/ 2.0's. Lca relocation brackets although only getting me down to 1.94 60' dropped me from 13.1 to 12.74. So you can see that 60' makes a big difference.

MPH is about right for a stock A4, and the very good 60 ft is what made for the great ET. Good job!

About DA.....that is short for Density Altitude, and takes into account both altitude and weather conditions. If you will post what track you ran at, along with the day and time, I can pull the approximate weather data and give you an idea of what the corrected altitude was (another term for DA).

The DA was 921 based on the online calculator I used.

I got 897, which very close to what qwk93ta came up with, so right around 900 ft DA is probably a good guestimate.

The best way to get DA is to have a good set of weather instruments at the track. Most people don't, so you can get close by using a couple of the following websites:

www.wunderground.com will give you weather information. Type in the city and state in the "search" block and up at the top of the screen and hit the go button. The page that comes up will give you current conditions and a forecast. Because you can rarely get to internet while you're racing, you find an hour-by-hour summary of conditions by going down the page about half way to a little box under "History and Almanac" that says "Detailed History and Climate". Put the date in the boxes and hit view. That is what I did for Orlando on the 16th, and this is where it took me: http://www.wunderground.com/history/...q_statename=NA . Scroll down to get the info you need. Note that this will pull up data for the closest reasonably-sized airport, and while not exactly, will give you a good idea of the condtions.

The data you need is Temp, Humidity, and Sea Level Pressure. You also need to have the elevation of the airport. I googled "Orlando Airport Elevation" and found that it is 92 ft above sea level.

With that data, go to this calculator: http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da_rh.htm There are others that will work just as well, but I like this one. Enter the Temp, Humidity, and elevation in the appropriate boxes. Put the Sea Level Pressure that you got from the wunderground.com site into the box labeled "Altimeter Setting" (it is a different word for the same thing). Hit the calculate button and bingo - you get a real good idea of what the Density Altitude is.

    Good luck.
    Bob

    I've owned a 89 coupe, 91 GT, 95 GT, 96 Cobra and a 07 GT....but now own a 00 WS6 with a LS2 6.0 for the same reason. The LSX motors make great power.
