You are correct in thinking 108 mph will support a 12 second run. As a matter of fact, you can dip into the 12's with 102 mph trap speeds if the car is setup properly.

108 mph will easily get you there. I had my fathers car a few years back trapping 110 mph and it was running consistent 12.0's,,,,so close to the 11's. All it takes is a car that will 60 foot, a combination of the right gear, converter, and suspension setup.

And although I'm not knocking the original poster, but 13.1 on street tires is cake walk when you are trapping 108 mph. That only requires about a 2.1-2.2 60 foot time. Nothing stellar there, just sayin

Don't know what older generation you are hanging around, but they are obviously out of the loop.
Try sub 1.8 60 foot times on a stock F70-14 bias ply tires with a 6 inch contact patch, running 12's, 11's and even low 10's and then we'll have a conversation.
Still though he is going through the gears pretty well. I give him credit for that.

Dont bias ply tires heat up decent? Also, you have some extra heft in those old cars to help them bite, however most if it is in the front so not sure if it helped or hindered. lol

I have a T-top 6 speed that weighs 3,550 lbs. empty, 3,750 race weight with me in it.

And my convertable automatic weighs 3,620 empty, and 3,820 lbs. race weight with me in it. Both with nearly a full tank of gas.
My car with 1/2 tank of gas was 3,525 and with my 215lb body in it the thing is up around 3,750 lbs. Less than my GTO was without gas! haha

.1 reaction time? Thats pretty good but doesnt count towards your 0-60" mark.

How much tire pressure were you running? Perhaps a good cool down and low tire pressure without a big burn out.

The .1 is not a rt its was a 13.1 just didn't put the 13 for some reason

I know rt do nothing for et but I usually get anywhere from a .40-.70

The first 13.1 was right after a 30 miles drive - my pass that wad also a 13.1 was more then a hour between the two

    I was running 17psi

They don't get sticky if that's what you mean. We do alot of little tricks to make the bias plys work. Since the cars have to be either pure stock or at least look pure stock depending on the class you run. I ran pure stock, so no internal engine/tranny mods allowed.

We do things like, fill the spare tire with water for extra weight over the rear wheels. We are allowed to clamp the leaf springs (if car is so equipped) but no traction devices allowed. We weigh each wheel/tire combo (yes they do vary) and the heaviest go on the back.
There are front sway bar tricks that I've mentioned here before to allow weight transfer (it has to be hooked and functional). Along with control arm bushing tricks, hiding an extra leaf on the right rear (with your spring clamps) to preload that tire. The bias plys like to be aired up to about 45 psi (that's what worked best for me).
Some guys will poor traction compound on their rear tires while in the pits to try and gain that extra advantage.

I can go on and on with tips and tricks on how to hook a street tire car, we did it for years with F70-14 bias plys, running ~1.85ish 60 foot times in my pure stock 70 Formula. Other guys easily cut 1.70 or less. Some cars are more advantageous than others with more rear overhang. My bird has a very stubby back side compared to some other cars, so it's more challenging to hook.
It should be even easier to do with the large 275 sized tires on a 4th gen with some simple tricks.
