Took the Z28 to the track for the 1st time!
This Saturday I had a chance to run the car at the 1/4 track. I met up with pajeff there to get a few runs in. I had a blast, the owner of the track even took us for a ride in his 63 Galaxy 500 with a 427 with dual quads and a 4-speed!
My first run was terrible. My RT was .361 and my 0-60 ft was 2.235 and a 1/4 mile time of 13.888 at 103.38. Reason being I started in 2nd gear on accident and when I put it in drive it down shifted to 1st and off it went! My best time was a 13.514 at 103.74 with a 0-60ft of 2.058.
I got 8 runs in and honestly could have ran 75 times if I wanted to. I had to drive about 50 miles or so to get there, the track is 140 from my house but stayed at my girl friends college apartment to cut down on driving time. The car with about half a tank of gas hit the scales at 3,525 lbs. Not super light but not bad. The aftermarket ZR1 style wheels probably are a little heaver than the stockers.
My fastest time came with putting the car in drive and when it shifted to 2nd I would put the car in 2nd manually because I could then hold it till 5500 and it would shift at about 5900 rpms, by leaving it in drive it would short shift at about 5400 or so.
I have a spread sheet with all my information from each run. I will upload it soon.
My car is a 2000 A4 Z28, Edelbrock shorty headers, SLP intake with K&N filter, smooth bellow, high flow cats, cheap ass flow master cat back,2.73 gears, and 63k miles. The first 6 runs were on 30+ psi, the last two were at 23lbs on the cheap-o General UHP 275/40/17s.Last edited by TLS_Addict; 10-24-2010 at 02:10 PM.

Need to toss those 3.73's. in 98 the 1st LS cars I drove had 2.73's then I found the one I bought with the 3.23.pack with no trackion control and a $4000 discount. now I have 3.73's and made a huge difference. but if you car about mpgs a 3.42 will give you a huge improvement and still get decent mpgs. I average around 18 to 19. Also get a tune done and you won't have to.shift. my car is set to.shift normal around town but at wot it shifts around 6k in every gear.
1998 Trans Am 85k miles.

Nice pic. My car would look just like that red one if I put my chrome 17" ZR1s but I have a billet grille.. Can't go wrong with a red camaro..

I used to run my 81 Camaro and my 04 GTO at the track but this was a lot more fun since I had someone there with me. I dont think those shorty headers do a whole lot for power.......lol The exhaust is not a favorite of mine either, Flow master are ok but I like Magnaflow a lot more. My 0-60 ft average was under 2.1 for 8 runs and 2 of them were high. One was a 2.2 something and the other a 2.15 or so. It was a lot of fun!
I am leaning more towards the 3.42s but 3.73s are NOT out of the question. Right now I get about 24mpgs with the 2.73s.
Yeah, I have his card. I am going to check it out this afternoon when I get home.
It was a lot of fun, must do it again sometime.

Hrm...............might have to figure out how to swap out the injectors on the old mans Corvette to see if that fixes the upper RPM issues.
I cant post files to this thread.......lol
