Took the Z-28 to the drags

I went to the track for the first time to see what my Z and I could do. I did a total of 6 runs and my brother did 2 with my car. I ran a best of 13.26 @ 103.85 with a 2.06 60ft. My mods are: lid, catback, built A4 tranny with shift kit, tranny cooler (thank goodness b/c the car got hot lapped for 6 runs), and a/c delete. I had little over half a tank (misjudged how much gas I needed to get to the track) and I had 245 Fuzion Zri's on all four corners. I had a blast racing and am quite pleased with my times considering my mods and experience.

Get that 60' into the 1.9x range and I see a 12.8-12.9 out of your car.

What does it take to get my 60ft into the 1.9x range? That would be awesome to see 12's.

some drag radials- If you know your rear wheels spin off the start keep lettin the air out of them until they stop. If you dont here tire spueeks from the get go your goin to need the bolt ons. With such a low 13 time you just might be able to get away with buying a ram air to drop the time to the 12's.

Why did you get a tranny cooler?? Are you running a stall? A factory setup can hot lap 100 times all day long. The LT1's were prone to heat soak not the LS1... Grats on the times.. 13.2 not bad for close to stock.. Get some Nittos or BFG Drag Radials and drop your tank down to 1/4 full. There is gas at our track so I almost run it empty. Bu can always fill up a the track. Your 12 is there wih jus better tires. You also might wan to remove he front sway bar for the track. This will let the car plant and transfer the weight to the back of the car...

No stall yet, but I have a good chunk of change into the tranny and I want to make sure it lasts awhile. I will definitely have under a 1/4 tank next time, I just misjudged how much gas I would need to get to the track. Lt's and BFG's are next on my list of mods so I should be in the 12's next time.

you did better than i did, this past friday night i ran mine for the first time.
its a 02 z28,m6 but i have 2:73's, what a joke! anyway i spun to i guess to 30mph off the line running zri's by the way. anyway she put down a 14.03 at 101 mph. she has more i know if i can just get off the line better, oh my reacton time was awful a .656. i have 18 inches of steel in my left foot so that doesnt help either. i raced a 01 ss he was running a ls6 engine he turned low 12's. i made this one pass for the hell of it. going back this friday night to redeem myself!

there's nothin wrong with running another cooler for the trans...even if you don't have a stall.

it's gonna make your transmission last way longer, and less likely to ever overheat.

it's actually a great idea to have, especially if you are doin run after run.

I wouldn't make a practice out of hot lapping your LS1. Give that oil time to flow back to the pan between runs.

Good point, I don't plan on hotlapping like that again, I was excited since it was my first time and it was so fun.

In an A4 with his minimal mods? I doubt it. He can run 1000x I would put money on it before his rearend giving up. And btw I would say damn nice runs for your age with limited experience and 245's! Hell of a job.

I destroyed my 10 bolt and posi with my A4 with minimal mods.

Edelbock shorty headers (crap headers), K&N and a predator, possibly made 10 passes. O and the Nitto 555s on 8.5" wheels * not the 555 DRAG RADIALS either. No suspension mods at the time.
