Roll Bar Question For Convertibles
Is a 4 point bar good enough for 11.5 runs? Just want something I can take out the back seats and bolt in.
Does anyone know a place to get a pre-fab 4 point for the F-Body Convertibles? Not sure if the SS and WS6 can interchange on the bars or not.
So to recap:
What's the minimum bar required for 11.5
And who's has the best deal on one.
I do have a line feed, so I can make one I guess. But I'm a crappy welder. It seems like welding must require some artistic talent of some kind. Well, I did a little research and found:
You can run as quick as 10.00 (with unaltered firewall and floors) with either a 6-point or 5-point (door bar on drivers side). NHRA requires a roll bar at 11.99 (13.99 Convertible).
Found a site that sells various point bar systems as well:

But, I'm still confused. If I put a 4 point bar without the door bar, does that mean I can go 11.99? If I want to go faster, I would need to add a welded door bar. Am I reading that correctly?. I'm sure there is some rule book wizards out there. I do not want to put in a door bar.

That must have been an old rule book you found. The rules have changed since early last year.
You are now required to have a roll bar at 11.49 or quicker for a hardtop and 13.49 or quicker for a convertable.
